CCSU Support Staff

Providing support to the Student Union is a team of dedicated Cornwall College staff who work with us in a variety of different ways - whether it's face-to-face providing support and guidance in the common rooms or behind the scenes working to provide your posters, magazines and websites! Meet the team below...

BEN ROWSWELL - Student Liaison Manager

Support the President & officers of Cornwall College Student Union (CCSU)in achieving their aims and objectives, providing advice and guidance as required and ensuring it becomes a pro-active, successful and valued learner organisation.

Managing the Student Liaison Staff across the corporation who provide support and guidance to the campus Student Union teams.

NAT MITCHELL - Student Participation Officer

I organise the staff led campaigns across Campus and support the Student Liaison Officers. I encourage students to write articles for the student magazine and website and am often seen around the campuses being noisy and snapping pictures. If anyone has any good news inside or out I want to know about it! I work closely with the President and enjoy getting the chance to come to your class rep meetings. I am here to encourage everyone to get involved and make college more fun for all!

CARLY FOSTER - Student Communications Officer

I work across all 7 sites to support the Student Liaison Team. I produce posters, tickets and other material for campaigns and events throughout the College. I also keep the CCSU website and Facebook pages updated. I am in charge of producing the twice-yearly CCSU Magazine - which you've hopefully all read!

ROB DOWNES - Student Liaison Officer, Camborne

Oversees the operation of the Student Union building on the Camborne site, working closely with The Student Union to develop extra-curricular activities and to engage with the Student body, encouraging participation and providing support where needed, liaising with staff members and external agencies to enrich the Student experience.

LAURA TURNER - Student Liaison Officer/Senior Tutor, Newquay

As SLO I help to run campaigns, take minutes of class rep/team meetings, assistwith elections, help to organise SU events, oversee the budget, and put together the weekly Student Bulletin. I’m the first point of contact in matters of student support, offering initial advice on health, welfare, accommodation, transport and personal support. I also work closely with the Learning Support team. As one of the Senior Tutor team here at Newquay I’m responsible for my own team of tutors.

SUE EMERY - Student Liaison Officer, Rosewarne

Hi, I’m Sue! I’m here to support you. If you have any ideas for events or activities, I’m here to help.

Part of my role is to look after The Nest, make sure everything runs smoothly and everyone is happy. So if you fancy a chat, pop in and say “hello!” I also organise activities, workshops and competitions. Keep your eyes peeled for the posters and emails!!

BECKI LEWIS - Student Liaison Officer, Saltash

My role is fun and varied. As the site is small it enables me to get to know the students, so we can build a good rapport and I can also support them if they have any problems. I also get involved with lots of charity events and enjoy this very much. I am able to support the Students in various ways, but most of all I enjoy a good chat. I feel privileged to be part of the students' journeys and I feel so proud when they finish and complete their course.

JO PLESTER - Student Liaison Officer, St Austell

I work in a lively common room 'The Treg', often addressing issues that young people face on a daily basis. I work closely with the CCSU Team to support, inform and guide them to create a strong and well organised union. I also raise awareness for students through campaigns which effect young people, sexual health, drugs and alcohol, smoking, mental health etc. I also love to have a laugh, listen to cheesy music and above all - love good food (preferably free)!
